Astronomical orientation of Eneolithic long barrows

Abstract:

Celkovým zájmem diplomové páce je detailně seznámit čtenáře s fenoménem astronomické orientace nemovitých objektů v minulosti. Autor tak činí zvláště v praktické části práce, jejímž obsahem je provedení praktického archeoastronomického výzkumu eneolitických dlouhých mohyl na Podřipsku. Rozsáhlá teoretická část práce je zaměřena na význam astronomie v rámci historických společností a na motivy, které tyto společnosti mohly vést ke zohlednění astronomických aspektů při budování nemovitých objektů. Práce je součástí projektu "Neolitické dlouhé mohyly v Čechách a rekonstrukce rituální krajiny pod Řípem."

Abstract:

The main aim of the Thesis is to make a reader familiar with the phenomenon of astronomical orientation of immovable objects in the past. The author does so especially in the practical part of the thesis, the content of which is to carry out practical archaeoastronomical research of the Eneolithic long barrows in the Podřipsko region. The extensive theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the importance of astronomy within historical societies and the motives that may have led these societies to consider astronomical aspects in the construction of immovable objects. The work is part of the project "Neolithic long mounds in Bohemia and the reconstruction of the ritual landscape under Říp."
