Louis de Funes in film adaptations of the literary works

Abstract:

This work deals with the personality of Louis de Funés and film adaptations of the literary works he stars in. The first work the author focuses on is Moliére’s The Miser. While Louis de Funés acts as a main star in this movie, the second play was chosen as the one in which he acts in the secondary role. It’s Théophile Gautier’s Captain Fracasse and Louis de Funés acting as a servant Scapin. The aim is to analyse the books and the movies with the special attention to differences between them. In the first part the author tries to describe actor’s life and the development of his career. Second part describes a theory of film processing with a focus on its relation with literary and performing art. Third part treats individual literary works, which means a theatre play The Miser and a novel Captain Fracasse, which were later made into movies. First a description of an author comes, than a plot and a perception of this work followed with its analysis. As the second comes the part of the work which deals with a film analysis and differences between a movie and an original work. Finally, there are educational sheets whose creation was based on knowledge acquired from the previous text.

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá osobností Louis de Funése a filmovými zpracováními literárních děl. Prvním dílem je Moliérův Lakomec. Zatímco v této filmové adaptaci Louis de Funés ztvárňuje hlavní roli lakomce Harpagona, druhé dílo bylo vybráno záměrně tak, aby v něm Louis de Funés hrál roli vedlejší. Jedná se o román Théophila Gautiera Kapitán Fracasse, kde Louis de Funés vystupuje v roli sluhy Scapina. Cílem práce je analýza knihy a filmu s důrazem na identifikování rozdílů, které tato zpracování odlišují. V první části je zpracován jak životní příběh Louis de Funése, tak vývoj jeho herecké kariéry. Druhá část pojednává o teorii filmového zpracování a jeho vztahu k literární a dramatické tvorbě. Třetí část je věnována analýze jednotlivých literárních děl, tedy divadelní hry Lakomec a románu Kapitán Fracasse. Nejprve je stručně představen autor a děj díla, percepce tohoto díla v průběhu let a samotná analýza literárního díla. Následuje část, ve které je vypracována analýza filmu s důrazem na jeho odlišnosti v souvislosti s originálním zpracováním. Závěr práce obsahuje pedagogické listy, při jejichž tvorbě byly využity poznatky z předcházejících oddílů.
