Czech National Bank interventions and their the impact on selected macroeconomic aggregates

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je posoudit vliv devizových intervencí České národní banky na vybrané makroekonomické agregáty, kterými jsou dovoz, vývoz, HDP a míra nezaměstnanosti, a také posouzení vlivu devizových intervencí na zahraniční obchod s nejvýznamnějším obchodním partnerem České republiky, kterým je Německá spolková republika. Práce se skládá z teoretického úvodu, kde je obecně shrnuta funkce České národní banky v České republice a vznik, popis a průběh devizových intervencí uskutečněných na tuzemském trhu. Další část práce se věnuje statistické analýze vlivu devizových intervencí na dané makroekonomické agregáty. Analýza je provedena pomocí kointegrační analýzy. Vysvětlující proměnnou je výše měnového kurzu a vysvětlovanými proměnnými jsou dovoz, vývoz, HDP a míra nezaměstnanosti. Pomocí jednorovnicových modelů je popsán vliv výše měnového kurzu na výše uvedené vysvětlované proměnné.

Abstract:

The main goal of this diploma thesis is to assess the impact of Czech National Bank interventions on selected macroeconomic aggregates such as import, export, GDP and unemployment rate and also assess the impact of interventions on foreign trade with the most important business partner of the Czech Republic, the German Federal Republic. The thesis consists of a theoretical introduction, where the function of the Czech National Bank in the Czech Republic is summarized and the formation, description and course of interventions on the domestic market. The next part of the thesis deals with the statistical analysis of the influence of interventions on the given macroeconomic aggregates. The analysis is performed by cointegration analysis. The explaining variable is the exchange rate and explained variables are import, export, GDP and the unemployment rate. Single-equation models describe the effect of the exchange rate on the above explained variables.
