Roger Waters versus Pink Floyd of David Gilmour

Abstract:

Práce je věnována osobnosti Rogera Waterse, a jeho tvůrčí činnosti po opuštění rockové skupiny Pink Floyd. Vzhledem k pozici zakládajícího člena souboru, který byl po dobu patnácti let rovněž jeho nejdůležitější kreativní silou, vyvolala následná pokračující existence Pink Floyd pod vedením skladatele a kytaristy Davida Gilmoura vlnu pozitivních, ale i negativních emocí jak z řad fanoušků, tak i odborné veřejnosti. Klíčovým motivem textu je studie postupného vygradování vztahů mezi Rogerem Watersem a ostatními členy skupiny a zejména konfrontace jeho specifických autorských postupů s tvůrčím procesem Davida Gilmoura. S přihlédnutím k vzájemné diametrální rozdílnosti a zároveň mimořádnému nadání obou těchto osobností se domnívám, že jednoznačné a objektivní posouzení jejich vlivu na výslednou podobu uměleckého vyjádření fenoménu Pink Floyd, není s největší pravděpodobností možné. Na základě přímého srovnání výsledků jejich díla, neovlivněného vzájemnou spoluprací, však docházím k závěru, že skupina Pink Floyd měla svou uměleckou činnost ukončit právě po odchodu Rogera Waterse, neboť její další setrvání na hudební scéně mělo v rámci předchozího vývoje jen minimální relevantní přínos. Je ale nutné si uvědomit, že bez ohledu na použití jména Pink Floyd, si nejen tvorba Rogera Waterse, ale rovněž i Davida Gilmoura, zaslouží nemalou pozornost hudebního publika.

Abstract:

The theses describes the individuality of Roger Waters and his creative work after splitting up with the rock band Pink Floyd. He was founder member of the band, who had been for fifteen years the most important creative element and therefore, the following ongoing existence of the band with the lead singer, composer and guitarist David Gilmour, caused a wave of positive, but most importantly negative emotions from Pink Floyd fans. The key motive for this text is a study of progressive relations between Roger Waters and all the other band members and above all the confrontation of his specific author´s techniques with David´s Gilmour creative process. With regards to mutual diversity and the same time the extraordinary talent of both individuals, I cannot but to assume, that iťs not possible to objectively measure their influence on final image of phenomenon known as Pink Floyd. Based on direct results comparison of their work, which wasn´t influence by mutual cooperation, I can only point out, that the famous band Pink Floyd should have ended their artistic work right after Roger Waters leaving. Their following continuance in musical world had in terms of previous progress only a minimal relevant profitability. No matter how we see the name Pink Floyd, we have to realize that both names Roger Waters and David Gilmour and their work deserve a considerable attention from music audience.
