Three-pole principle of relations in Peter Jackson's King Kong

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá filmem King Kong režiséra Petera Jacksona. Práce je úžeji zaměřená na dva faktory, konkrétně osobu Petera Jacksona a na skutečnost, že je film remakem původního snímku King Kong z roku 1933. Snaží se zjistit, do jaké míry bylo na tyto faktory upozorňováno v propagaci filmu, zda a jakým způsobem se projevily v jeho produkci a postprodukci a jak ovlivnily následnou kritickou a diváckou reflexi. Skrze formální analýzu prvků filmu a srovnání s originálem bylo ukázáno, do jaké míry měly tyto faktory vliv na výslednou podobu filmu. Bylo snahou práce dokázat, že spojení těchto faktorů nebo lépe řečeno vztah mezi nimi, tedy Jacksonova náklonnost k originálnímu snímku, zapříčinila, že se King Kong Petera Jacksona dá označit jako „ten pravý remake“, tedy verze, jež vzdává hold originálu a zároveň jej aktualizuje.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on a movie King Kong directed by Peter Jackson. Thesis is narrowly concentrated on two factors connected with the movie: director Peter Jackson and a fact that the movie is a remake of an original motion picture made in 1933. Thesis tries to find out how much attention was paid to these factors in propagation, critical and viewer‘s reflection of the movie and how important were they in it’s production and postproduction. Through the formal analysis of various movie aspects and comparison with the original it is shown, in what aspects these factors determined the final form of the movie. It is one of the main goals of the thesis to prove, that connection of these factors or relation between them (Peter Jackson’s affection to the original) caused that Peter Jackson’s remake can be called „the true remake“, which means that it pays homage to the original and at the same time it makes the original relevant by updating it.
