Strategies and methods of coping with stressful situations in police practice

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá fenoménem stresu a zvládáním zátěžových situací. Zaměřena je především na problematiku policejního stresu a na uplatňování copingových strategií v rámci policejní profese. Hlavním cílem této práce je popsat postupy zvládání zátěžových situací u policistů a zjistit, zda využívají stejné strategie jak v policejních, tak v životních situacích, nebo jestli se strategie v těchto dvou typech situací liší. Výsledky napovídají platnost interakčního neboli transakčního přístupu ke copingu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the phenomenon of stress and coping with stressful situations. It?s focus mainly on police stress and using of coping strategies within police work. The main objective of this thesis is to describe ways of coping of police officers and to determine whether they use the same coping strategies in police situations as well as in life events or if their strategies are different in these two types of situations. The results suggest the validity of interaction approach of coping.
