The Current Position of the Hispanic Community in the USA

Abstract:

Tato práce pojednává o současné pozici hispánské komunity v americké společnosti, jelikož Hispánci tvoří nejpočetnější menšinu ve Spojených státech. Zabývá se problémem asimilace a integrace do společnosti na základě demografických údajů, jako jsou dosažené vzdělání, znalost jazyka a příjmy. Bylo dokázáno, že pozice hispánské komunity se zlepšuje s druhou generací Hispánců žijících v USA. A to díky tomu, že dosahují lepší komunikační dovednosti, vyšší vzdělání a příjmy ve srovnání s první generací Hispánců žijících v USA. Dále je nastíněn přínos hispánské komunity. Je zmíněn v několika oblastech, například historické, kulturní a náboženské oblasti spolu s oblastí komunikačních médií. Nakonec jsou naznačeny možné vyhlídky do budoucna. Tyto naznačují, že nárůst počtu Hispánců ve Spojených státech pravděpodobně ovlivní formování budoucí tváře Ameriky.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the current position of the Hispanic community within the American society as they are the biggest minority group in the United States. It also analyzes the issue of assimilation and integration into the society based on the socio-demographic data such as attained education, language proficiency and personal earnings. It was proved that the position of Hispanic community improved with the second generation and higher as they reach better knowledge of English, higher education and personal earnings in comparison with the first generation of Hispanics living in the USA. Further, the contribution of the Hispanic community is outlined. It is defined in certain spheres, these are the historical, cultural and religious sphere, as well as the area of mass media is discussed. Finally, the possible prospects towards future are suggested. The prospects towards future indicate further increase in the number of Hispanics in the United States and thus they are likely to participate in forming the future face of America.
