Abstract:

Josef Svatopluk Machar je výraznou osobností české literatury první poloviny 20. století. Je znám spíše svými díly z raného období tvorby. Tato bakalářská práce se snaží postihnout tvorbu s historickou tematikou, konkrétně Macharovu knihu fejetonů Řím a autorovy postoje ke dvěma protipólům knihy, tedy k antice a křesťanství. V návaznosti na Řím se práce dále zabývá polemikou odborného historika Josefa Šusty. V ní se Šusta snaží vyvrátit Macharův jednostranný pohled na antiku. Dále se práce věnuje obrazu antiky a Říma v Macharově poezii, pro tento účel byla zvolena básnická sbírka z cyklu Svědomím věků s názvem V záři helénského slunce

Abstract:

Josef Svatopluk Machar is a remarkable character of the Czech literature from the 20th century´s first half. He is known principally for his early writings. This bachelor thesis concentrates on literary output with historical themes ? more specifically on Machar´s book of feuilletons Řím and also on the author´s attitude to antiquity and Christianity that are meant to be the opposites here. Following-up to Řím, the thesis examines the polemic of skilled historian Josef Šusta who tries to confute Machar´s subjective point of view on antiquity. Furthermore, the thesis analyses the image of antiquity and Rome in Machar´s poetry and for this purpose was chosen the collection of poems from cycle Svědomím věků named V záři helénského slunce.
