Generalized Linear Mixed Models

Abstract:

Chceme-li použít klasický lineární regresní model, musí data splňovat předpoklad nezávislosti a normality. Pokud jeden z těchto předpokladů není splněn, musíme použít jiný typ regresního modelu. Pro data s nenormálním rozdělením exponenciálního typu jsou k dipozici zobecněné lineární modely a pro korelovaná data lineární smíšené modely. Zobecněné lineární smíšené modely (GLMM modely), které jsou kombinací těchto dvou typů, jsou určeny pro data, která jsou jak korelovaná, tak nenormálně rozdělená. V této diplomové práci jsou všechny zmíněné typy modelů popsány spolu s metodami pro určení odhadů jejich parametrů, přičemž hlavní pozornost je věnována GLMM modelům. Jsou zde popsány tři metody pro výpočet parametrů GLMM modelu: Laplaceova metoda, penalizovaná kvazi-věrohodnost Gaussova-Hermitova kvadratura. Na závěr je ukázána aplikace GLMM modelů na reálná data a odhad parametrů v systému R.

Abstract:

The use of the classical linear regression models presupposes that the assumptions of normality and independence of the data are fulfilled. If one of them is not satisfied, other types of regression models have to be used. For data with non-normal distribution of the exponential type the generalized linear models can be applied and for correlated data there are the linear mixed models. The combination of them, the generalized linear mixed models (GLMM models), are intended for modelling data which are both correlated and non-normally distributed. All of the above mentioned types of models are discussed in this thesis along with methods used for estimating the parameters in these models. Main attention is given to the GLMM models and three methods for computing estimates are described: the Laplace approximation, the penalised quasi-likelihood and the Gauss-Hermite quadrature. The application of the GLMM models on real data and the estimation of the parameters with the R system is shown in the last chapter.
