Eduard Milén, portrait work or carricatures?

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje portrétní a karikaturní tvorbě Eduarda Miléna (1891-1976). Autor žil a tvořil většinu života v Brně. Jeho umělecká tvorba dvacátých a třicátých let 20. století je úzce spjata s Lidovými novinami. Většina portrétů a karikatur, kterým se ve své práci věnuji pochází právě z této doby. V kontextu, jak Milénova života, tak širší umělecké tvorby práce zkoumá techniky, styl a rozdíly v portrétní a karikaturní tvorbě. K porovnání jsou použity díla současníků. Práce je doplněna o obrazovou přílohu rozebíraných děl.

Abstract:

The work is accompained by a pictures of discussed topics.This bachelor thesis deals with portraits and carricatures made by Eduard Milén (1891-1976). The author lived and worked most of his life in Brno. His art work from 20s and 30s of 20th century is closely connected with the national newspaper Lidové noviny. A majority of portraits and carricatures presented in the thesis are those that were created at that time. We examine techniques, style and differences in Milén's portraits and carricatures in the context of his life and further art work. The individual pieces are compared with work of contemporary artists. Images of the analysed pieces are attached to the thesis as a visual support.
