The physical activity and screen time of pupils at primary schools in Bohumín in their free time

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá pohybovou aktivitou a screen timem. Cílem práce je popsat pohybovou aktivitu a screen time u žáků základních škol v Bohumíně. Výzkum proběhl na Masarykově základní škole v březnu 2023. Pro výzkum byl použito dotazníkové šetření pomocí dotazníku IPAQ - long form a mnou vytvořený dotazník (Screen time dotazník), inspirovaný dotazníkem YAP. Mezi chlapci a dívkami nebyl nalezen u pohybové aktivity žádný signifikantní rozdíl. Žáci tráví u obrazovek extrémně vysoké množství času. Příčinou tak vysokého času u obrazovek je zejména mobilní telefon a počítač. Byly nalezeny rozdíly mezi chlapci a dívkami, kdy chlapci trávili mnohem více času hráním počítačových her a sledováním YouTube, zatímco dívky měly vyšší screen time u obrazovek mobilního telefonu, kde sledovaly zejména sociální sítě.

Abstract:

The master's thesis deals with physical activity and screen time. The aim of the thesis is to depict the physical activity and screen time among primary school pupils in Bohumín. The research took place at Masaryk Elementary School in March 2023. The research applied a questionnaire survey using the IPAQ questionnaire - long form and a questionnaire created by me (Screen Time questionnaire), inspired by the YAP questionnaire. No significant variance was found in physical activity between boys and girls. The pupils spend an extremely large amount of time in front of their screens. The cause of spending a lot periods of time in front of screens are particularly mobile phones and computers. Differences between boys and girls were found, with boys spending much more of their time playing computer games and watching YouTube, while girls had more screen time on their mobile phones, where they mainly watch social media.
