Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá praktickými aspekty genderu v literárním překladu, ke kterým přistupuje z hlediska teorie habitusu. Zkoumá, zda se muži a ženy v překladu jinak vyjadřují, jestli k nim redaktoři v nakladatelstvích přistupují právě podle toho, jakého jsou pohlaví, a jestli muži nebo ženy překládají lépe některé genderově vyhraněnější žánry. V praktické části analyzuje překlady čtyř mužů a čtyř žen a zkoumá, zda by jednotlivé překladové tendence mohly být založené na habitusech rozdílných podle pohlaví.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with practical aspects of gender in literary translation as approached from the point of view of the habitus theory. It studies whether men and women respectively express themselves in different ways when translating, whether editors-in-chief submit the translations according to the translator’s gender and whether men or women translators perform differently in particular genres. The practical part of the thesis analyzes translations of four men and four women and examines, whether particular translations strategies might be influenced by gender-based habitses.
