Hyperrealism in Painting as Mimetic Art

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá konfrontací několika konceptů, kterými se snaží vyložit hyperrealistické malířství jako mimetické umění. Pojem mimesis je již od Platóna a Aristotela chápán jako umění nápodoby a velice úzce souvisí s vnímáním reality. Velmi podobně tomu je i u hyperrealismu. Z tohoto pohledu jde tedy o trochu kontroverzní téma, protože se zakládá na fotografickém základu, který je považován za jeden z nejvíce poddajných mimetických objektů. Práce se tedy zabývá polemikou, zda lze fotografii považovat za důvěryhodné médium pro základ hyperrealistickým maleb, a dále tím, jak se proměňovala funkce fotografie od předlohy malby po nástroj, bez kterého by malba nemohla vzniknout. V práci se objevují i známí představitelé hyperrealismu a jejich díla. V této části se práce snaží upozornit na autorův záměr, techniku zpracování a výsledný efekt. Zmiňuje i proměnu vnímání pozorovatele. K dosažení stanoveného cíle práce využívá různé metody, jejichž prostřednictvím se snaží zjistit, zda a do jaké míry lze považovat hyperrealistickou malbu za mimetické umění.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis deals with the confrontation of several concepts, which try to interpret hyperrealist painting as mimetic art. The concept of mimesis has been understood since Plato and Aristotle as the art of imitation and is very closely related to the perception of reality. With hyperrealism it is very similar. From this point of view, it is a slightly controversial topic because it is based on a photographic basis, which is considered one of the most flexible mimetic objects. Thus, the thesis deals with the polemic as to whether photography can be considered a trustworthy medium for the basis of hyperrealistic paintings, and how the function of photography has changed from a painting original to a tool without which painting could not have been created. Well-known representatives of hyperrealism and their artworks also appear in the thesis. In this part, the thesis tries to draw attention to the author's intention, processing technique and the resulting effect. It also mentions the change of the perception of the viewer. To achieve the set goal, the thesis uses various methods, through which it tries to determine whether and to what extent hyperrealistic painting can be considered a mimetic art.
