Traffic behavior of UJEP students commuting to campus by car

Abstract:

Stále se zvyšující počet automobilů způsobuje větší poptávku po parkovacích místech. Narůstající tlak na parkovací místa je v kontrastu s tím, že prostor ve městech je omezený a plní i další funkce kromě funkce dopravní. To zvlášť platí pro kampusy a okolí vysokých škol, kde je požadavek také na prostory pro setkání studentů, zeleň, relaxaci a aktivní trávení času. Cílem práce je vyhodnotit dopravní chování studentů, kteří dojíždí do kampusu UJEP automobilem alespoň jedenkrát týdně, zjistit důvody pro volbu automobilu pro cesty za studiem, strukturu poptávky po parkování a vyhodnotit možnosti zavedení nástrojů smart parking s cílem zvýšení efektivity využití parkovacích míst v kampusu a hledat další řešení převisu poptávky po parkovacích místech nad nabídkou. Pro naplnění cíle budou využita kvantitativní data z dotazníkového šetření mezi studenty UJEP. Data budou vyhodnocena statistickými metodami, konkrétně pomocí popisné statistiky a regresní analýzy. Práce by měla přinést argumenty vycházející z dat do diskuse k řešení parkování v kampusu UJEP a jeho okolí.

Abstract:

The increasing number of automobiles is causing a greater demand for parking spaces. The growing pressure on parking spaces contrasts with the limited space in cities, which serves multiple functions besides transportation. This is especially true for campuses and the surroundings of universities, where there is also a demand for spaces for student gatherings, greenery, relaxation, and active leisure activities. The aim of the study is to evaluate the transportation behavior of students who commute to the UJEP campus by car at least once a week, identify the reasons for choosing a car for commuting to study, analyze the structure of parking demand, and evaluate the possibilities of implementing smart parking tools to increase the efficiency of parking space utilization on campus while exploring additional solutions to address the surplus demand for parking spaces over supply. To achieve this goal, quantitative data from a survey among UJEP students will be utilized. The data will be analyzed using statistical methods, specifically descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The study should provide evidence-based arguments for the discussion on parking solutions in the UJEP campus and its surroundings.
