Superheroines in comics books The character of Wonder Woman

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá ženskými superhrdinkami v komiksech. Snaží se najít odpověď na otázku, zda jsou ženské superhrdinky v komiksech skutečně hlavními postavami. První část práce se věnuje vývoji postavy superhrdinky v jednotlivých dekádách 20. století od vzniku žánru ve čtyřicátých letech 20. století. Přibližuje typické znaky této postavy v každém období, které dále aplikuje na několik vybraných ukázek. Zkoumány jsou vybrané superhrdinky z anglofonní oblasti, jelikož tyto země (Anglie, USA) představují těžiště superhrdinského komiksu. Druhá část práce se zaměřuje na současnou situaci superhrdinek v komiksech, která je ukázána skrze nejznámější a nejstarší superhrdinku Wonder Woman. Poslední část práce analyzuje konkrétní komiks Wonder Woman: Krev (2015).

Abstract:

This thesis deals with female superheroines in comic books. It tries to find answer to question whether female superheroines are seen as real main characters or primarily just as women. The first part focuses on development of the superheroines in individual decades of the 20th century since the creation of the gender in the 40´s. The thesis describe the typical sings of the characters in each period, which than applies to a few specific examples. Examined are selected superheroines from Anglophone areas, as these countries (England, USA) represent the centre of superhero comics. The second part focuses on the current situation of superheroines in comics, which is demonstrated by the most famous and oldest superheroine Wonder Woman. The last part analyzes specific comics Wonder Woman: Blood (2015).
