The Phenomenon of the Holocaust: the Question of Guilt and Responsibility

Abstract:

Předmětem diplomové práce je problematika holocaustu z pohledu viny a odpovědnosti. Práce je uvedena zkoumáním primárních filosofických otázek, které se pojí s fenoménem holocaust. Pozornost je věnována dějinnému vývoji a proměnám antisemitismu. Zkoumány jsou také motivy a zdroje Hitlerovy nenávisti k Židům. Neméně důležitá je kapitola zaměřená na rozbor příčin a fungování nacistického státu. Ústřední části se zabývají otázkou viny a odpovědnosti v pojetí Karla Jasperse, Hanse Jonase a Hannah Arendtové. Závěrečné kapitoly se soustředí jak na deformaci pachatelů, tak obětí holocaustu.

Abstract:

The subject of Diploma thesis is the issue of the Holocaust from the perspective of guilt and responsibility. The thesis is introduced by the research of primary philosophical questions, which are related to the phenomenon of the Holocaust. Attention is paid to the historical development and transformation of anti-Semitism. Research also focuses on the motives and sources of Hitler´s hatred of Jews. Equally important is the chapter dealing with the analysis of causes and functioning of the Nazi state. The central parts are devoted to the question of guilt and responsibility in the conceptions of Karl Jaspers, Hans Jonas and Hannah Arendt. The final chapters are concentrated on the deformation of perpetrators as well as the victims of the Holocaust.
