The most common mistakes in crisis and management communication

Abstract:

The aim of this paper is to introduce and compare various forms communication and their components, analyze incorrect practices in management and crisis communication and to put the theoretical knowledge into practical context. This analysis primarily highlights the causes, consequences but also ways to overcome the incorrect and destructive communication. The paper is divided into two parts- theoretical and practical part, and consists of ten chapters, which are systematically sub-divided into several sections. The thesis comprises four series of pictures, two tables and one appendix. The first part provides a definition and classification of various communication forms, explaining the strong effects of communication on achievement of work but also private-life goals. The subsequent practical part focuses on the detailed analysis of numerous case studies and research, which analyze, with the help of illustrating scenarios, what factors shape and impact on our communication and how to eliminate our communication mistakes. The paper concludes with a summary that puts forth the significance and complexity of communication in managerial environment and crisis situations. Several research studies (referenced in this paper) are a testimony to the fact that our speculations and knowledge about emotions, leadership, emotional intelligence, self- reflexion and body language are not only valid in the field of philosophy but also applicable on practical grounds.

Abstract:

Cieľom tejto práce je komparácia jednotlivých komunikačných foriem a ich komponentov, analýza nesprávnych postupov v manažérskej a krízovej komunikácii a uplatnenie v praxi. Táto analýza poukazuje na príčiny spôsobujúce nesprávnu a deštruktívnu komunikáciu, dôsledky takejto komunikácie, ale aj príkladné postupy na odstránenie nedostatkov. Práca je rozdelená dve časti- teoretickú a praktickú. Celkovo pozostáva z desiatich kapitol, ktoré sú ďalej systematicky rozčlenené na ďalšie podkapitoly. Obsahuje štyri série obrázkov, dve tabuľky a prílohu so stručnou prezentáciou významných osobností . Prvá časť je venovaná definícii a klasifikácii rôznych foriem komunikácie, vysvetľujúc jej silný vplyv na pracovné i osobné dosahovanie vytýčených cieľov. Nasledujúca praktická časť je venovaná detailnému rozboru viacerých štúdií a výskumov, ktoré analyzujú, pomocou ilustrovaných príkladov, aké faktory formujú našu komunikáciu a ako odstrániť chyby v komunikácii. V závere práce je zdôraznená dôležitosť a rozmanitosť komunikácie v manažérskom prostredí a v krízových situáciách, z čoho pramení aj súčasný vysoký záujem o štúdium danej problematiky. Viaceré výskumy, na ktoré poukazujú referencie v predloženej práci, dokazujú, že rôzne úvahy a poznatky o emóciách, vodcovstve, emocionálnej inteligencii, sebareflexii a reči tela, doposiaľ klasifikované len ako filozofické, sú vysoko aplikovateľné aj v praktickej rovine.
