Does pocket money affect children's well-being?

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá konceptem životní spokojenosti a jejích determinantů, konkrétně vztahem důchodu a spokojenosti u žáků 6. až 9. tříd druhého stupně základní školy v Plzni. Důchod zde představuje kapesné, jež žáci měsíčně dostávají. Díky vlastnímu dotazníkovému šetření mezi dětmi ve výše zmíněných třídách na základních školách a gymnáziu v Plzni pracuje s daty od 449 žáků a sleduje závislost jejich spokojenosti na výši jejich kapesného. Tu práce nepotvrzuje. Závislost se podařila potvrdit u aktuální nálady, spokojenosti s volným časem a spokojenosti mezi spolužáky, dále pak u ročníku, ve kterém žáci studují. Nebylo nalezeno mnoho zásadních rozdílů v porovnání mezi dívkami a chlapci. V porovnání se žáky ze základních škol, žáky z víceletého gymnázia při hodnocení spokojenosti více ovlivňuje aktuální nálada.

Abstract:

This thesis examines the concept of well-being and its determinants, especially the relationship between income and life satisfaction of schoolchildren from 6th to 9th grade. In this case, income is the monthly pocket money children get from their parents. The data used in this thesis were obtained from 449 elementary school children and grammar school children in Pilsen from the using a customized questioner. The thesis inspects the dependency of the income on respondents’ well-being. It shows that there is none. However, there is a correlation between well-being and current mood, satisfaction with free time and satisfaction among schoolmates, followed by the grade students are in. There were no significant differences in the comparison between girls and boys. When comparing elementary school children and grammar school children, grammar school children are more affected by their current mood.
