LARP (Life Action Role Playing) in everyday life experiences of adolesencent girls

Abstract:

Tato práce je kvalitativního charakteru. Má za úkol odpovědět na otázku: „Jaké místo zaujímá LARP (Live Action Role Playing) v životě adolescentů?“, stejně jako na vedlejší otázky typu, jestli má LARP nějaké hlubší terapeutické poslaní. V první teoretické části jsou uvedeny a rozebrány potřebné koncepty související s tématem. Jsou to koncepty: adolescence (hlavní téma tohoto životního období) a popis hráčské komunity a subkultury LARP na území České republiky. Zde je přiblížen a vysvětlen tento poměrně nový fenomén a ukázána propojenost tohoto období s hraním larpu. Následuje pak obecný popis larpu, vznik a vývoj tohoto fenoménu a porovnání s ostatními hrami tohoto typu (deskový a počítačový) a krátké srovnání s role play technikami. Na závěr je rozebrán koncept hry v kontextu larpu ze sociálně-psychologického hlediska. Protože práce je kvalitativního charakteru, bylo pro výzkum vybráno 6 respondentek dlouhodobě hrajících larp. Výzkumnou metodou je zakotvená teorie, která má za úkol kódovat a analyzovat provedené rozhovory. Tato analýza ukázala dva jevy. Za prvé, larp působil jako metoda k vybíjení agresivity, jako experimentální prostor s chováním bez následků a jako pomoc při rozvoji sociálních dovednosti. Za druhé, byl larp obecně považován respondentkami za jednu z nejdůležitějších částí jejich života, protože poskytoval dočasný útěk z reality a prostor pro realizaci fantasie a imaginace. Dále respondentky uváděly, že v prostředí ostatních hráčů pociťovaly uspokojení a uvolnění skrze podobné zájmy a sdílenou fantasii.

Abstract:

This work has qualitative character and tries to answer the question : Which place has the LARP (Live Action Role Playing) in life of adolescents? and deal with subsidiary questions, if the LARP play some other deeper therapeutic role? In the first theoretical part there are brought and analyzed necessary concepts which hang together with theme. This is the concepts : adolescence (the main themes of this period of life) and description of players community and LARP subculture in the Czech Republic. In next part there is closer view and explanation of this relatively new phenomenon and there is shown connection between this period and playing the LARP. Then there is a main description of the LARP, development of this phenomenon and comparing of the LARP with other similar games (table and computing) and short comparing to role play technics. In the conclusion there is analyzed concept of the LARP from social-psychological scope. Therefore this thesis has qualitative character, for research there were chosen 6 women-respondents long-playing the LARP. As a researching method was used grounded theory, which main idea was to code and to analyze performed dialogues. This following analysis showed two events: in the first case the LARP impacted like a method which has been discharging aggression, like experimental space where a person can behave any way he wants without further complications and also like a help at the development of social ability, in the second case was the LARP generally considered by women-informants like one of most important part of their s life, which served a momentary runaway from reality and space for realizing fantasy and imagination. The women-informants said that, in the atmosphere with others players they feel (felt) satisfaction and unblocking due to the similar interests and union with the same fantasy.
