The literature as a motivational element in the Chemistry subject at primary school

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá propojením učiva chemie a beletrie pro mládež formou vytvořeného didaktického materiálu. Cílem tohoto didaktického materiálu je podpořit motivaci žáků pomocí zdůraznění praktického hlediska poznatků z chemie a dále propojením učiva chemie s příběhy světové i české beletrie. Světová a česká literatura zde slouží nejen jako motivační prvek, ale také jako podpora čtenářské gramotnosti žáků. Teoretická část diplomové práce se věnuje obecné charakteristice motivace. Konkrétně se zabývá motivací žáků k aktivnímu zapojování se do výukového procesu. Dále je tato část práce věnována teoretickému rozboru jednotlivých typů výukových metod a výsledkům výzkumu PISA v oblasti čtenářské a přírodovědné gramotnosti českých žáků v porovnání s celosvětovým měřítkem. Praktická část diplomové práce se zabývá výsledky orientačního výzkumného šetření, které bylo provedeno v osmých a devátých ročnících základní školy a gymnázia. Stěžejní částí praktické části práce je vytvořený výukový materiál, který vychází z poznatků získaných díky výše zmíněnému dotazníkovému šetření, a který motivuje žáky a podporuje jejich čtenářskou gramotnost.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis focuses on connecting the subject of chemistry with fiction literature for teenagers in form of the creation of new didactic material. The aim of this didactic material is to stimulate motivation of students through highlighting the practical aspects of chemistry and further to connect chemistry with the stories from world and Czech fiction. World and Czech literature serves here not only as a motivation tool but also as a support of reading literacy of students. Theoretical part of this thesis deals with general characteristics of motivation. Specifically, it focuses on the motivation of students to actively participate in the learning process. Further this part is dedicated to the theoretical analysis of particular teaching methods and results of PISA survey from reading and natural science literacy of Czech students in comparison with international average. Practical part of the diploma thesis focuses on the orientation survey, which was conducted in the eighth and ninth grades of elementary schools and grammar schools. The main part of the thesis is the creation of educational material based on the information from above mentioned questionnaires. The educational materials are designed to motivated students and support their reading literacy.
