Ethological observation of life manifestations of the tame llama

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá životními projevy lamy krotké a je rozdělena do dvou částí, a to na teoretickou a praktickou. V teoretické části je definován vědní obor etologie, také je tu popsána jeho historie a metody pozorování. Dále jsou v literárním přehledu shrnuty základní informace o lamách, technice jejich chovu a specifických životních projevech. Praktická část je zaměřena na pozorování vybraných životních projevů čtyřčlenné skupiny lamy krotké, které bylo uskutečněno v ZOO parku ve Vyškově. Sledované projevy zahrnovaly – krmení, napájení, vyprazdňování, odpočinek, pohyb, komfortní chování, sociální chování a pozorování okolí. Následně je v této části obsaženo vyhodnocení a sestavení etogramu. Z výsledků celé skupiny zvířat je patrné, že se lamy nejčastěji věnovaly příjmu krmiva (40 %), následně odpočinku (26 %), který byl často spojen s přežvykováním a další nejčastější aktivitou byl pohyb (12 %). Ostatní projevy byly méně zastoupeny. Jednotlivé lamy se od sebe lišily drobnými odchylkami, které odpovídaly jejich věku a temperamentu.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the life manifestations of the tame llama and is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part defines the scientific field of ethology, it also describes its history and methods of observation. Furthermore, the literature review summarizes basic information about llamas, their breeding techniques and specific life manifestations. The practical part is focused on the observation of selected life manifestations of a fourmember group of tame llamas, which took place in the ZOO park in Vyškov. The observed manifestations included - feeding, watering, defecation, rest, movement, comfortable behavior, social behavior and observation of the surroundings. Subsequently, this section contains the evaluation and compilation of the etogram. The results of the whole group of animals show that llamas paid the most attention to the food intake (40 %), followed by rest (26 %), which was often associated with chewing, and the next most common activity was moving (12 %). Other manifestations were less represented. Some llamas differed from each other by small deviations, which corresponded to their age and temperament.
