Geocaching and its potential for the tourism industry

Abstract:

Tato práce identifikuje nový a progresivní fenomén geocachingu z hlediska cestovního ruchu a poukazuje na jeho nevyužitý ekonomický potenciál. Zabývá se výpočtem počtu účastníků a odhadem pro příští léta, popisem stávajícího trhu zboží a služeb pro geocaching a návrhem nových produktů včetně geocachingového zájezdu, dále pak informuje o zájmu či spíše nezájmu klíčových českých oborových institucí. Hlavním cílem práce je přednést dostatek argumentů dokládajících ekonomický význam geocachingu a především jeho význam v rámci cestovního ruchu. Ambicí této práce je změnit pohlížení výše zmíněné odborné veřejnosti na geocaching.

Abstract:

This thesis identifies a new and progresive phenomenom of Geocaching in terms of tourism. It refers to its under-used economic potential. The number of geocachers is count and estimated for next seasons. The current goods and services market is described and new products are proposed, including a geocaching package tour. The thesis informs about an insufficient interest of Czech establishment acting in tourism in geocaching. The main task is to put forward enough arguments attesting an economic importance of geocaching and its position within tourism. The ambition of the thesis is to convince the aforesaid establishemt about the importance.
