Abstract:

Alberik Mazák byl uznávaný skladatel a hudební teoretik 17.stol. Zprávy o tom dokládají záznamy jeho přítele, opata, biskupa a rovněž cisterciáka Jana Caramuela z Lobkovic (Ioannes Caramuel Lobkowitz 1606-1682) v rukopise připravované encyklopedie Musica, kterou již nestihl vydat tiskem. V encyklopedii figuruje Mazákovo jméno u několika hesel a dopisů vedle velkých osobností jako Kircher, Mersenne, Descartes apod. Další úlomkovité zprávy o Mazákově životě známe pouze z klášterních kronik v Heiligenkreuz a ze dvou dopisů Mikuláše Reitera v archivu v Kroměříži. Mazákovo dílo představují zejména tři rozsáhlé tištěné sbírky Cultus Harmonicus (celkem 211 skladeb). Z nich Op. I a Op. II jsou dnes dochovány ve Wolfenbüttel D-W a v Kroměříži CZ-Kra. Část třetí sbírky, která je podle literatury ztracena, se podařilo nalézt v Polsku a Německu. Fragment Opus III., knihy Canto a Tenor jsou uloženy v Kasselu D-Kl, knihy 15,16 a 18 v Krakově PL-Kj. Díky tomu známe titul, dedikaci, seznam, obsazení a ukázky skladeb z Mazákovy vrcholné sbírky. Mazákovy skladby vyšly nejméně ve dvou souborných sbírkách v protestantském Německu (1659 a 1669). V Kroměříži je unikátně dochováno 5 rukopisů motet, které nejsou opisem žádné tištěné skladby. Máme archivní zprávy o několika dalších skladbách, které se však nedochovaly. Všechny ostatní nalezené rukopisy jsou opisem skladeb vydaných tiskem. Původně bylo dílo značně rozšířené, přesto se dochoval pouhý zlomek. Dnes dochované Mazákovy skladby nebo zprávy o nich nalezneme na těchto místech: Česko: Kroměříž, Praha, Strážnice, Litovel, Slaný Slovensko: Bratislava, Prievidza Polsko: Krakov, Elblag Německo: Wolfenbüttel, Kassel, Lipsko, Berlín, Lüneburg, Drážďany, Grimma Rakousko: Vídeň Anglie: Londýn Švédsko: Upsala Itálie: Benátky Francie: Paříž V roce 2011, u příležitosti výročí 350 let od autorova úmrtí, je celé rekonstruovatelné dílo Alberika Mazáka, Cultus Harmonicus Op. I, Op. II a rukopisy motet z Kroměříže, publikováno v nové edici volně na internetu jako faksimile i moderní přepis. Díky tomu budeme možná za čas schopni zhodnotit toto dílo a představit si vedle Adama Michny z Jižních Čech také neznámého skladatele ze Slezska - Alberika Mazáka.

Abstract:

Alberik Mazak was an eminent 17th century composer and writer on music. This information is supported by records of his friend, the abbot, bishop, and Cistercian monk Juan Caramuel Lobkowitz (Ioannes Caramuel Lobkowitz, 1606-1682), included in his Ms. encyclopaedia Musica, which he did not manage to publish. Mazak's name figures in the encyclopaedia in several articles and letters, together with other leading writers on music of the time, such as Kircher, Mersenne, Descartes, and others. Other fragmentary reports about Mazak's life are known only from the Heiligenkreuz monastery chronicles, and from two letters by Mikuláš Reiter (Joannes Nicolas Reiter) in the Kroměříž archives CZ-Kra. Mazak's work consists mainly of three large printed collections Cultus Harmonicus (211 compositions in total). Of these, op.I and op.II are now in Wolfenbüttel D-W and in Kroměříž CZ-Kra. Part of the third collection, previously considered to be lost, was found in Poland and Germany. From the fragment of Opus III., books Canto and Tenor are in Kassel (D-Kl), books 15,16 and 18 in Krakow (PL-Kj). Due to this fact, we know now the title, dedication, index, cast and samples of the compositions from Mazak‘s most important collection. Mazak's works were published in at least two collections of works by different authors in protestant Germany (1659 and 1669). Five Ms. motets in Kroměříž are quite unique – they were never published. There are archive reports on several other compositions, unfortunately lost. All the other existing Mss. are copies of published music. While in the 17th century Mazak's work spread widely, only a fraction of it survives until today. At present, Mazak’s works or information on them can be found at the following places: Czech Republic: Kroměříž, Praha, Strážnice, Litovel, Slaný Slovakia: Bratislava, Prievidza Poland: Krakow, Elblag Germany: Wolfenbüttel, Kassel, Leipzig, Berlin, Lüneburg, Dresden, Grimma Austria: Wien England: London Sweden: Uppsala Itaty: Venezia France: Paris On the occasion of the 350th anniversary of the author's death, in 2011, all works by Alberik Mazak, possible to reconstruct, i.e. Cultus Harmonicus Op. I, Op. II and the Kroměříž Ms. motets, were published in the new freely available online edition (facsimile and modern transcription). This will allow evaluation of his work - and possibly help to put the already famous composer Adam Michna, from South Bohemia side by side with the until now unknown composer from Silesia - Alberik Mazak.
