Forensic genetics in criminalistics

Abstract:

Diplomová práce představuje přehled využití forenzní genetiky jako nástroje pro objasnění různých druhů trestných činů od násilných trestných činů, které známe z populárních pořadů tak i přes méně známé jako je pytláctví, ochrana ohrožených druhů živočichů nebo identifikace pohřešovaných osob při válečných konfliktech. V úvodu práce je forenzní genetika zasazena do historického kontextu a následující kapitoly se věnují základním definicím, které jsou nutné pro pochopení problematiky. Cílem práce je zmapovat základní principy a použití metod, které se ve forenzní genetice využívají k analýze biologického materiálu. V praktické části práce, která popisuje několik konkrétních případů odsouzených lidí, bylo cílem ověřit hypotézu, že forenzní genetika není neomylným důkazním prostředkem a analýzu DNA nelze považovat za jediný důkaz při soudním procesu bez přihlédnutí k ostatním okolnostem.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis presents an overview of the use of forensic genetics as a tool to explain the different types of offenses of violent crimes that we know from popular programs through less known, such as poaching, protection of endangered species and identification of missing persons in war conflicts. The introduction of thesis is forensic genetics sets into a historical context and following chapters deal with basic definitions that are necessary to understand the issue. The aim is to show the fundamental principles and aplication of methods which are used in forensic genetics for the analysis of biological material. The goal of the practical part, which describes several cases of convicted people was to verify the hypothesis that forensic genetics is not infallible means of proof and DNA analysis cannot be considered as the only evidence in the trial without taking into account the other circumstances.
