Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá použitím metafor ve filmových a divadelních kritikách. V teoretické části práce jsou shrnuty rané i současné teorie metafory. Je zde také nastíněna struktura uměleckých kritik a jazyk, který je v nich nejčastěji použit. Výzkumná část se zabývá více než 80 metaforami, které byly nalezeny ve filmových a divadelních kritikách publikovaných v britských novinách. Výzkum je zaměřen na zodpovězení čtyř výzkumných otázek, týkajících se tónu použitých figurativních výrazů, jejich lexikální analýzy, účelu, který plní ve filmových kritikách a kategoriemi, do kterých spadají výrazy, které jsou použity metaforicky.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with use of figurative expressions in art criticism. It focuses on metaphors and similes in film and theatre reviews published in British newspapers, mainly The Guardian and The Telegraph. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with early and modern definitions and theories of metaphor and similes and also with the structure and language of art criticism. The research part examines more than 80 metaphors and similes found in the reviews. The figurative expressions are studied from four points of view – their tone, lexical analysis, their purpose and categories of words used as metaphor vehicles. All the parts of the research are supported by examples from the reviews.
