Analysis and design of SSBI application to support production and sales planning of polyolefins

Abstract:

Cílem této závěrečné práce je vytvoření Self Service Business Intelligence aplikace pro zefektivnění přesnosti prognózování v rámci demand planningu a výpočtu plánovaných prodejních cen polyolefinů pomocí Power BI. První část popisuje byznysový kontext této práce včetně výrobního a obchodního modelu spol. ORLEN Unipetrol, se zvláštním důrazem na proces plánování polyolefinů a charakteristiku hlavních ukazatelů efektivity prodeje. Následně v praktické části se autor věnuje samotné analýze a zpracování návrhu SSBI aplikace, a to na základě popsaných požadavků obchodního oddělení. Výsledkem práce je provozní prototyp SSBI, který umožňuje sledovat správnost, přesnost a relevanci zadávaných požadavků ze strany obchodníků a srovnávat je s reálným odběrem jednotlivých zákazníků, což umožňuje průběžné monitorování přesnosti plánování. V rámci této práce byl také vyhodnocen současný algoritmus plánování prodejních cen polyolefinů.

Abstract:

The goal of this thesis is to create a Self Service Business Intelligence application to improve the efficiency of prediction for demand planning and calculation of the planned polyolefins selling prices using Power BI. The first part describes the business context, including the production and trading model used by ORLEN Unipetrol, with special emphasis on the polyolefins planning process and the characteristics of the main sales efficiency indicators. Next, in the practical part, the autor focuses on the analysis itself and on preparing the design of the SSBI application, on the basis of the described requirements from the Sales Department. The result of the work is a prototype of the SSBI, enabling monitoring of the correctness, precision and relevance of the requirements entered by the sales representatives and comparing them to the actual offtake by individual clients, which enables ongoing monitoring of the planning precision. The thesis also includes the evaluation of the current algorithm for planning of the polyolefins selling prices.
