Phylogeny, phylogeography and characteristics of newts (Caudata: Salamandridae) inhabiting the Western Carpathians

Abstract:

Obojživelníci (Amphibia) jsou velmi stará skupina obratlovců, která učinila zásadní kroky v procesu přechodu vodních živočichů do suchozemského prostředí. To mělo za následek jednu z nejvýznamnějších rolí v celé evoluci obratlovců a dodnes jsou jediná skupina čtvernožců, která má součástí svého životního cyklu stádium vodní larvy. Již v dobách prvohorních prakontinentů společně s bezobratlými živočichy dobývali pevninu posázenou prvními pralesy. Rody Ichthyosaura a Lissotriton patří do čeledi Salamandridae a řádu ocasatých (Caudata) a tvoří druhou nejpočetnější skupinu obojživelníků. Většina druhů se nachází v oblastech mírného a subtropického pásu na severní polokouli. Cílem mé bakalářské práce bylo sepsat rešeršní práci, která shrnuje dosavadní poznatky o vybraných ocasatých obojživelnících, jmenovitě druzích Ichthyosaura alpestris, Lissotriton vulgaris a Lissotriton montandoni.

Abstract:

Amphibia are a very old group of vertebrates that made crucial steps in the process of the transition of aquatic animals to the terrestrial environment. This resulted in one of the most important roles in the entire evolution of vertebrates. To this day they are the only group of tetrapods to have an aquatic larval stage as part of their life cycle. Already in the times of the prehistoric protocontinents, together with invertebrate animals, they conquered the land planted with the first forests. The genera Ichthyosaura and Lissotriton belong to the family Salamandridae and the order Caudata. They form the second largest group of amphibians. Most species are found in the temperate and subtropical zones of the Northern Hemisphere. The goal of my Bachelor's Thesis was to write a review that summarizes the current knowledge about selected species of the Caudata group (Amphibia), namely the species Ichthyosaura alpestris, Lissotriton vulgaris and Lissotriton montandoni.
