Mergers and acquisitions in the Czech banking sector.

Abstract:

Předmětem diplomové práce „Fúze a akvizice v českém bankovním sektoru“ je analýza přeměn realizovaných v bankovním sektoru ČR v letech 2005-2014. Práce je obsahově rozčleněna na část teoretickou a část praktickou. Teoretická část nastiňuje širší kontext řešené problematiky, neboť shrnuje hlavní aspekty přeměn obchodních společností a stručně pojednává o základních charakteristikách českého bankovního sektoru. Praktická část popisuje vývoj bankovního sektoru ve sledovaném období z několika hledisek – z hlediska počtu subjektů působících v bankovní soustavě a jejich formy vlastnictví, z hlediska kategorií tvořících strukturu soustavy, a z hlediska podílu jednotlivých kategorií na celkové bilanční sumě bankovního sektoru. Součástí praktické části je dále detailní zhodnocení přeměn uskutečněných ve vymezeném období v českém bankovním sektoru dle kritéria typu transformace, formy zúčastněných společností a typu vlastnictví zúčastněných společností. V závěru práce jsou pomocí vybraných statistických metod zkoumány ekonomické účinky realizovaných přeměn.

Abstract:

The thesis “Mergers and acquisitions in the Czech banking sector” aims at an analysis of the transformations carried out in the Czech banking sector during the years 2005-2014. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part outlines the broader context of defined problems, because it summarizes the main aspects of transformations of companies and briefly discusses the basic characteristics of the Czech banking sector. The practical part describes the development of the banking sector in the monitored period from several points of view - from the viewpoint of number of subjects operating in the banking system and their form of ownership, from the viewpoint of categories constituting the structure of the system, and from the viewpoint of the proportion of each category to total assets of the banking sector. The practical part also includes detailed evaluation of the transformations carried out in defined period in the Czech banking sector according to criteria such as the type of transformation, the form of participating companies and the type of ownership of participating companies. Finally, the economic effects of realized transformations are examined by using selected statistic methods.
