Statutory Town

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce poskytuje pohled na historický vývoj, charakteristiku a problematiku statutárních měst. V této práci jsem čerpala zejména ze zákona č. 128/2000 Sb. O obcích, a statutu města Plzně. Město Plzeň jako zástupce členěných statutárních měst je v této práci podrobně rozebráno. Tato práce také obsahuje kandidaturu města Plzně jako Evropské hlavní město kultury 2015. Cílem mé práce je dostatečně informovat čtenáře o statutárních městech jako celku, jejich samostné a přenesené působnosti a podat jim co nejvíce informací o měste Plzni.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis provides a view of the historical development, characteristics and problems of statutory cities. I relied especially on the Act No. 128/2000 Coll. about municipalities and the status of the Town of Pilsen. Town of Pilsen as a statutory representative of the divided city is discussed in details in this work. This work also includes the nomination of Pilsen as European Capital city of Culture 2015. The main goals of this work are, first of all, to inform readers about the statutory city as a whole; second, to describe independent and portable force of statutory cities; and third, to give sufficient information about the Town of Pilsen.
