Mechanical destruction of calcite speleothems (Moravian Karst)

Abstract:

V jeskyních Moravského krasu je v současnosti pozorován zvýšený opad kalcitových speleotém/ brček. Jako hlavní příčinou tohoto jevu je uváděno mechanické poškození různého původu – přirozeného i antropogenního. Cílem diplomové práce je lepší pochopení destrukce brček a případné rozlišení antropogenních příčin. Práce je založena na (1) studiu aktuální literatury, (2) sběru brček, dokumentaci postižených míst, prostudování vzorků vhodnými metodami, srovnání laboratorními experimenty, (3) analýze dat a diskuzi, (4) vytvoření nového koncepčního modelu mechanické destrukce speleotém a zhodnocení možných antropogenních vlivů.

Abstract:

Currently there is watched on increased waste of calcite speleothems/straw stalactites in the caves in the Moravian Karst. The main cause of this phenomenn is supposed to be a mechanical damage coming from various sources – nature and antrophogenic. The aim of my master work is the better understanding a destruction of straw stalactites and a possible differentation of antrophogenic causes. This work is based on the (1) search and results of scientific literature, (2) a documentation of investigated areas a collection of straw stalactites, (3) and their laboratory analyses, (4) finally, we created a new conception of mechanical destruction of speleothems and reviewd the antrophogenic impacts.
