Willingness to pay for COVID-19 antibody test

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na individuální ochotu platit za domácí testy na protilátky COVID-19. Cílem bylo zhodnotit, zda mají lidé zájem o koupi samotestovacího zařízení detekující protilátky a kolik by za tento test byli ochotni zaplatit. Práce dále zjišťuje, zda existuje statisticky průkazný vztah mezi částkou uvedenou respondenty a následujícími faktory: pohlavím, vzděláním, věkem, čistým příjem, strachem z nakažení COVID-19, zdravotním stavem respondenta a počtem nakažených a zemřelých osob v rodině a okruhu přátel respondenta. K naplnění výzkumného cíle bylo využito dotazníkové šetření. WTP bylo zjišťováno na základě odpovědi na otevřenou otázku, ve které respondenti sami, dle svého uvážení uváděli částku. Výsledky ukazují, že průměrná částka, kterou by byli lidé ochotni za domácí testy detekující protilátky COVID-19 je rovna 226 Kč. 80 % respondentů uvedlo částku v rozmezí od 0-300 Kč. Nicméně nejčastěji uváděná částka byla 0 Kč, což indikuje neochotu za test cokoli platit.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis focuses on willingness to pay for at-home COVID-19 antibody test. The main goal was to evaluate, if people would be interested in buying these tests and if so, how much they would be willing to pay for them. Another aim is to determine, if there is a statistically significant relationship between the amount the respondents are willing to pay and the following factors: gender, education, age, net income, fear of COVID-19, respondent`s health and the number of infected people in the respondent`s family. A questionnaire survey was used to find the answers to the stated goal. WTP was measured with an open-ended question in which respondents themselves indicated the maximum amount they are willing to pay. The results show that the average amount that people would be willing to pay for these tests equal to 226 CZK. 80% of respondents stated an amount between 0 to 300 CZK. However, the most frequently stated price was 0 CZK, which indicates a reluctance to pay anything for these tests.
