Experimental analysis of physical and mechanical properties of LSL with oriented layers of wood strands

Abstract:

Práce se primárně zabývala měřením různých mechanických vlastností nosných prvků vyrobených z LSL a jejich porovnáním v rámci rozdílných orientací středových vrstev k vrstvám povrchovým a použitých dřevin. Bylo zjištěno, že na mechanické vlastnosti ve čtyřbodém ohybu a tlaku neměla vliv orientace středových částí ani použitá dřevina, ale byl prokázán zásadní vliv hustoty na mechanické vlastnosti těles. Metoda DIC popsala a znázornila průběh napětí působící na ohýbaný prvek a ověřila, že v neutrální ose nevzniká žádné napětí. Při rozlupčivosti byl pozorován vliv mezi jednou skupinou vzorků kvůli chybě v průběhu výroby desek. Vliv vyšší hustoty se také plně projevil při pozorování výsledků nasáklivosti a bobtnání, kde se zvyšující se počáteční hustotou se zvyšovalo bobtnání a snižovala nasáklivost.

Abstract:

This work is primarily focused on measuring various mechanical properties of load-bearing elements made of LSL and comparing them in terms of different orientations of wooden chips in the central layers to the surface layers and the used types of wood. It was found that the mechanical properties in four-point bending, and compression were not influenced by orientation of core layers or the species of wood, but a significant effect of density on the properties of the bodies was demonstrated. DIC method described and illustrated the stress distribution acting on the bent element and confirmed that no stress occurs in the neutral axis. Internal bond showed an influence among one group of samples due to an error in the board manufacturing process. The influence of higher density was also fully evident when observing the results of absorption and swelling, where increasing initial density led to increased swelling and decreased absorption of water.
