Alternatives to natural nutrition in newborns and nurslings - Past and Present practice in the Czech Republic and Germany

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá možnostmi výživy novorozenců a kojenců. Cílem bylo popsat přístupy ke kojení a náhradní výživě kojenců v různých historických etapách a prozkoumat historii a současnost bank mateřského mléka v ČR a Německu. První část se věnuje obecnému popisu anatomie prsu, fyziologii laktace a složení mateřského mléka. V historické části je popsán vývoj od starověku až do 19. století. Zkoumána je problematika kojných a zvyky přírodních národů. V kapitole o alternativách kojení je popsána umělá výživa, problematika neoficiálního prodeje mateřského mléka a alternativy podání mléka. Podrobněji je práce zaměřena na historický vývoj a situaci bank mateřského mléka v Německu a v České republice. Popsány jsou konkrétní postupy a rozdíly ve zpracování mateřského mléka v těchto bankách. Uvedeny jsou nejdůležitější instituce zabývající se touto problematikou.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the possibilities of nutrition in neonates and infants. The aim was to describe the attitudes to breastfeeding and replacement feeding of infants in different historical periods and explore the history and present of human milk bank in the Czech republic and Germany. The first part is devoted to a general description of breast anatomy, physiology of lactation and breast milk composition. In the historical section is described the evolution from ancient times to the 19th century. The work deals with wet nurses and habits of native peoples. In the chapter about alternatives to breastfeeding is described artificial nutrition, the issue of informal sale of milk and milk alternatives filing. More specifically, it is focused on the historical development and the situation of breast milk banks in Germany and the Czech republic. Described are specific procedures and differences in the treatment of breast milk in these banks. The following are the most important institutions dealing with the issue.
