Designing a virtual reality educational program focused on media literacy and misinformation

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská diplomová práce popisuje základní charakteristiky dezinformací a jejich šíření. Následně uvádí jejich typovou kategorizaci, která může být nápomocná při identifikaci dezinformací. Rešeršně prozkoumává existující nástroje bojující s dezinformacemi, ať už fackt-checkingovou, či edukační formou. V aplikační části je navrhnut design edukační hry pro virtuální realitu, zaměřený na mediální gramotnost a dezinformace. Hra se zaměřuje na edukaci seniorů, kteří jsou jednou z nejnáchylnějších demografických skupin.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis describes the basic characteristics of disinformation and its dissemination. Subsequently, it provides its type categorization, which can be helpful in identifying disinformation. It researches existing tools fighting disinformation, whether fackt-checking or educational. In the application section, the design of an educational game for virtual reality, focused on media literacy and disinformation, is proposed. The game focuses on educating seniors, who are one of the most suscep-tible demographic groups.
