Gender diversity in the selected company XY and its relation to the company culture

Abstract:

Genderová diverzita v pracovním prostředí se stala klíčovým tématem v moderním světě. Navzdory široké škále možností, které dnešní doba nabízí ženám pro efektivní skloubení rodinného a pracovního života, je stále patrné, že na vedoucích pozicích převažují muži. Diskriminace na základě pohlaví zůstává tak jednou z nejčastějších forem diskriminace v České republice. Aktuálně jsou podniky více než kdy jindy vyzývány k zajištění inkluzivního prostředí, kde se každý zaměstnanec cítí respektován a hodnocen nezávisle na jeho pohlaví. Jak genderová diverzita proniká do firemního prostředí, stává se klíčovým faktorem ovlivňujícím organizační kulturu. Cílem této práce je analýza vlivu genderové diverzity na kulturu a vnímání genderové diverzity v daném podniku jejími zaměstnanci. Metody výzkumu použité pro detailní zkoumání této problematiky zahrnují hloubkové polostrukturované rozhovory, jehož respondenty se stalo dvanáct zaměstnanců vybrané firmy. Získaná data byla dále interpretována pomocí otevřeného kódování. Praktický přínos této práce zahrnuje formulaci konkrétních doporučení pro vybraného zaměstnavatele, která vycházejí z výsledků výzkumu a interpretace dat. Následná implementace navržených doporučení by měla umožnit lépe pochopit potřeby zaměstnanců v souvislosti s genderovou diverzitou, a nepřímo tak pozitivně ovlivnit jejich pracovní spokojenost.

Abstract:

Gender diversity in the workplace has become a key issue in the modern world. Despite the wide range of opportunities that today's women have to effectively balance work and family life, it is still evident that men dominate in leadership positions. Gender discrimination thus remains one of the most common forms of discrimination in the Czech Republic. Now more than ever, businesses are being called upon to ensure an inclusive environment where every employee feels respected and valued regardless of their gender. As gender diversity permeates the corporate environment, it is becoming a key factor influencing organisational culture. The aim of this paper is to analyze the impact of gender diversity on the culture and perception of gender diversity in a given company by its employees. The research methods used to examine this issue in detail include in-depth semi-structured interviews, the respondents of which were twelve employees of the selected company. The data collected was further interpreted using open coding. The practical contribution of this paper includes the formulation of specific recommendations for the selected employer based on the research findings and data interpretation. The subsequent implementation of the proposed recommendations should enable a better understanding of the needs of employees in relation to gender diversity, and indirectly positively influence their job satisfaction.
