Motivation factors for organisational volunteering

Abstract:

Cílem mé práce bylo zjistit motivační faktory k firemní dobrovolnické činnosti u zaměstnanců konkrétní firmy, kteří se dosud firemního dobrovolnictví neúčastní. Zjistil jsem, že motivační faktory zkoumaných osob odpovídaly klasifikaci motivačních faktorů Clary, et al. (1998), tzn. hodnotové funkci, funkci porozumění, sociální funkci, kariérní funkci, ochranné funkci a rozvojové funkci. Impulsem, který tyto motivační faktory probouzí je nabídka firemních dobrovolnických aktivit a způsob její prezentace. Důležitá je osobní prezentace takové nabídky, která zdůrazňuje smysl dané dobrovolnické činnosti a konkretizuje očekávané výsledky této činnosti. Díky tomu umožní zaměstnancům vidět či představit si, které z jejich motivačních faktorů mohou být danou činností uspokojeny. Zkoumané osoby v rozhovorech často uváděli kombinaci více motivačních faktorů, což vede k náročnější přípravě a výběru firemních dobrovolnických činností, které tyto motivační faktory mohou uspokojit, ale závoveň se zde vytváří příležitost pro zvýšení účasti zaměstnanců na firemních dobrovolnických aktivitách.

Abstract:

The aim of my work was to investigate motivational factors for corporate volunteering of employees of a particular company, who do not yet participate in corporate volunteering. I found out, that motivational factors of the examined sample of employees corresponded with the classification of motivational factors by Clary, et al. (1998), ie. the value function, the understanding function, the social function, the career function, the protective function and the development function. The impulse that awakens these motivational factors is the offer of corporate volunteer activities and the way in which it is presented. It is important, that such offer is presented personally, emphasizing the sense of concrete volunteering activity and specifying the expected results of this activity. As such, it enables employees to see, or imagine, which of their motivational factors can be met by the given activity. The examined sample of employees often cited in interviews a combination of several motivating factors. This leads to more rigorous preparation and selection of corporate volunteer activities, that can satisfy these motivational factors, but at the same time, it creates an opportunity to increase employee participation in corporate volunteer activities.
