Úspešným riešením problému neplodnosti sú v súčasnosti metódy asistovanej reprodukcie, najmä metóda in vitro fertilizácie, pri ktorej dochádza k oplodneniu mimo tela. Dôležitou zložkou inkubačného média ľudských embryí sú aminokyseliny a zmena ich koncentrácií naznačuje, aký je metabolizmus embrya a aké sú predpoklady pre úspešný prenos embrya.
