Adolescents' Reading Attitudes in Relation to Libraries' Activities

Abstract:

The character of the master thesis Adolescents' Reading Attitudes in Relation to Libraries' Activities is theoretically-researching and its main goal is to examine and analyze the relationship between adolescents’reading attitudes and activities that a library offers for this specific age group. Theoretical part of the thesis is divided into four chapters which focuse on defining essential terms that are related to the issue-matter. Those are period of development of a pubescent person, general issues connected to reading as well as theme of reading in regards of pubescent age. Last but not least, characteristic, specifics, and the role of library within the society are provided. The empirical part of the thesis is region-directed; the research refers only to the area of the city of Brno. In four chapters, methodology of research, quantitative research itself, and analyses of libraries’ activities are provided. Based on the results, findings and recommendations are concluded at the end of the thesis.

Diplomová práca Postoje dospievajúcich k čítaniu vo vzťahu k aktivitám knižníc má teoreticko-výskumný charakter a jej cieľom je skúmať vzťah medzi čitateľskými postojmi dospievajúcich a aktivitami, ktoré knižnica pre dospievajúcich ponúka. Teoretická časť je rozdelená do štyroch kapitol, v rámci ktorých sú vymedzené základné pojmy, ktoré s problematikou súvisia. Jedná sa o vývojové obdobie dospievajúceho jedinca, problematiku čítania všeobecne a takisto v kontexte obdobia dospievania. V neposlednom rade popisujeme funkciu a rolu knižnice v rámci spoločnosti. Praktická časť je regionálne vymedzená, vzťahuje sa na územie mesta Brna. V štyroch kapitolách postupne predstavuje metodológiu výskumu, kvantitatívny výskum medzi dospievajúcou mládežou, analýzu aktivít verejných knižníc v meste Brne, a nakoniec závery a odporúčania, ktoré vyvodzujeme na základe výsledkov výskumu.
