Restoration of selected mural scenes on the vault of St. Wenceslaus Chapel in the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Klokoty

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce prezentuje průběh restaurování dvou nástěnných maleb na klenbě a vítězném oblouku, části štukové výzdoby a souvisejících nápisů v kapli sv. Václava v kostele Nanebevzetí Panny Marie v Klokotech pocházející z počátku 18. století. Vymezené úseky s náměty "Sv. Václav seje, žne a mlátí obilí" a "Bičování Krista" jsou součástí nástropní malby sedmi výjevů ze života sv. Václava a sedmi maleb na vítězném oblouku, zobrazujících pašijový cyklus jako součást rozsáhlejšího mariánského ikonografického konceptu realizovaného v rámci celého interiéru kostela. Bakalářská práce obsahuje restaurátorský průzkum a dokumentaci provedených zásahů s rozšířenou kapitolou zabývající se předlohami a podklady pro rekonstrukci. Práce je doplněna o obrazovou, grafickou a textovou přílohu.

Abstract:

The Bachelor's thesis presents the process of restoration of two murals on the vault and on the triumphal arch, of stucco and related inscriptions in the St Wenceslaus Chapel in the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Klokoty dating from the early 18th century. The defined sections with the themes "St Wenceslaus sowing, reaping and threshing grain" and "Flagellation of Christ" are part of the ceiling painting of seven scenes from the life of St Wenceslaus and seven paintings on the triumphal arch, depicting the Passion Cycle as part of a larger Marian iconographic concepts implemented throughout the interior of the church. The Bachelor's paper includes restoration research and documentation of interventions with an extended chapter dealing with patterns and materials for reconstruction. The work is complemented by pictorial, graphical and textual supplement.
