Implementation of EDI communication in a company

Abstract:

Diplomová práce, na téma „Zavedení EDI komunikace ve společnosti“ je zaměřena na vytvoření komplexního pohledu při zavádění elektronické výměny dat ve společnosti a podání ucelených informací o komplexním EDI řešení. Práce se zaměřuje na využívané standardy v EDI jako je standard UN/EDIFACT, identifikační kódy a další. Dále vysvětluje využívané formáty a jejich transformaci do jiných struktur pomocí XSL jazyka.Hlavním cílem práce je vytvoření metodiky pro zavedení EDI ve společnosti, která podrobně provede čtenáře celým procesem zavedení od prvotního rozhodnutí o realizaci projektu a zvážení výhod EDI až do závěrečné implementace navrženého řešení speciálně upraveného na míru zákazníka. Vytvořená metodika se skládá ze tří částí, kdy každá popisuje jednotlivé kroky, které jsou potřebné pro zavedení kompletního EDI řešení. Jako dílčí cíl si práce bere za úkol shrnout obecné informace o EDI, využívaných standardech, formátech a kódování. Částí práce je i popis konverzí a transformací dokumentů pomocí překladových šablon.Závěrem práce je výsledná metodika sumarizována a otestována při využití na reálném projektu zavedení EDI řešení.

Abstract:

Diploma thesis on the topic "Implementation of EDI communication in a company" is focused on creating a complex insight into establishing the electronic data interchange inside of a company and providing comprehensive details about the entire EDI solution.The thesis describes commonly used standards such as UN/EDIFACT, identification codes and other. It also describes various formats and their transformations into different structures using the XSL transformation methods.The main goal of this thesis is creation of a methodology that helps with implementation of EDI in a company. It walks the reader through the entire implementation process from the initial decision on starting with the project and considering all the advantages of EDI till the final implementation of suggested solution, which is specially modified to customer's specific needs. The final methodology consists of three parts, where each one of them describes the individual steps that lead to the final result of implementing the complex EDI solution.Furthermore, the diploma thesis also summarizes the basic information about EDI, the used standards, formats and encodings. Part of the thesis describes the process of document transformation using the translation templates.In the conclusion the whole methodology is tested against the real-life project of implementing the EDI solution.
