Abstract:

Pro svou bakalářskou práci jsem se rozhodla vytvořit "autorské serifové písmo". Vybrala jsem si toto téma z několika důvodů. Jedním z nich byla určitá výzva pro mě samotnou, protože jsem nikdy předtím nevytvářela serifové ani bezserifové písmo. Jelikož se ve své dosavadní práci zajímám o typografií, považovala jsem za důležité plně pochopit anatomii písma a pokusit se ho vytvořit. Rozhodnutí zaměřit se na serifová písma vychází především z potřeby pochopit jednotlivá písmena v souladu s jejich funkčností a estetikou. Naučit se je lépe vybírat a používat ve své budoucí práci. Prošla jsem celým procesem tvorby písma od skicování písmen, přes jejich převedení do digitální podoby, až po optické vyladění sazby. Pro prezentaci písma jsem vytvořila dvaceti dvou stránkové oboustranné leporelo doplněné dvěma plakáty. Písmo jsem pojmenovala Carevna.

Abstract:

For my bachelor thesis I decided to create an "Author's Serif typeface". I chose it for several reasons. One of them was a certain challenge for myself, as I had never created a serif or sans serif font before. As I am interested in working with typography in my work I found valuable to fully understand the anatomy of type and try to create one. The decision to focus on serif fonts is mainly based on the need to understand the individual letters in accordance with their functionality and aesthetics. To learn how to better choose and use it in my future work. I went through the entire process of creating a typeface from sketching the letters, to transferring them to digital form, to optically tuning the typesetting. For the presentation of the typeface, I created a twenty-one page, double-sided cardboard book, complete with two posters. The final font is called Carevna.
