Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá možným vztahem mezi preferovaným stylem učení studentů a jejich akademickým úspěchem. Zaměřuje se na srovnání výsledků studentů, kteří dostali aktivity, jež respektují styly učení a studenty, kteří byli vyučováni výhradně podle učebnice. Po poskytnutí teoretického základu o existujících modelech učebních stylů a jejich hlavních přístupech a učebních metodách je diskutován experiment a jeho výsledky. Experiment byl proveden na třech skupinách studentů během externí praxe autorky. Dvě skupiny studentů obdržely experimentální aktivity s ohledem na učební styly a jedna ze skupin byla kontrolní skupinou. Studenti byli testováni pomocí testu VAK a testu S. Efremtsevy, aby určili své preference učení a poté napsali závěrečný test, aby zhodnotili jejich porozumění materiálu. Analýza dat ukázala rozptýlení učebních modalit mezi studenty a porovnala jejich závěrečné výsledky testů mezi experimentální a kontrolní skupinou v souladu s modalitami studentů. Výsledky ukázaly, že hypotéza byla většinou odmítnuta, jen vizuální a multimodální studenti měli lepší výsledky než studenti se stejnými modality v kontrolní skupině. Práce ukázala potřebu dalšího longitudinálního výzkumu.

Abstract:

This thesis looks into the possible relation between the students' preferred learning style and their academic achievement. It focuses on the comparison of the results of the students that have received the activities that respect learning styles and the students who have been taught in accordance to the teacher's book. After providing the theoretical background on the existing learning styles models and the main approaches and teaching methods, the experiment and its results are discussed. The experiment has been conducted on three groups of students during the author’s external teaching practice. Two groups of students have received the experimental activities respecting the learning styles and one of the groups has been the control group. The students have been tested by the VAK test and the Efremtseva’s test to determine their learning preferences and then have written a final test to evaluate their comprehension of the material. The analysis of the data has showed the dispersal of the learning modalities among the students and compared their final test results between the experimental and the control groups in accordance to the students' modalities. The results have revealed that the hypothesis have been mostly rejected with only the visual and multimodal students having better results than the students with the same modalities in the control group. The thesis has shown the need for further longitudinal research.
