Political Activism in Non-Profit Sector: Boundaries, Roles of the Actors and Effectiveness of Non-Governmental Organizations

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje hledání souvislostí mezi rolí představitele neziskovky a efektivitou organizace. Efektivita je v této práci pojata jako schopnost otevřeného dialogu s komunálními politiky za účelem získat přístup k tvorbě policy. Výzkum má dvě roviny, v té první pátrám po faktorech, které stojí za utvářením rolí a hranic představitelů neziskového sektoru, v té druhé hledám souvislosti mezi těmito rolemi a efektivitou organizace. Možnost ovlivnit politická rozhodnutí a otevřená diskuze s politiky je z lokálního hlediska důležitý bod, díky němuž mohou představitelé neziskovek obhajovat zájmy organizace a veřejnosti. Neziskové organizace už nepracují s masovou členskou základnou, důležitější je právě komunikace s politiky, kooperace s dalšími neziskovkami, a snaha nabízet řešení problémů, o které se zajímá širší veřejnost. Výzkum prokázal souvislost mezi rolemi a efektivitou organizace. Negativní změna role se promítla do fungování organizace a narušila efektivitu. Změna role pozitivním směrem pak stála za aktivnějším přístupem představitelů v projektech, rovněž došlo k nárůstu komunikace s komunálními politiky.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis focuses on the connection between the role of non-profit representative and the effectiveness of the organization. In this work, effectiveness is conceived as an approach to policy making and as an open dialogue with communal policies. The research has two levels. On this first level, I look for the factors behind the roles and boundaries of the non-profit sector. On the second level, I look for connections between these roles and the effectiveness of the organization. The ability to influence political decisions and open discussion with politicians is very important for enforcement of interest. Non-profit organizations are not currently working with a mass membership, more important is communication with politicians, co-operation with other NGOs and efforts to offer solutions for the public. Research has shown a link between the roles and the effectiveness of the organization. The negative role change reflected in the functioning of the organization and impaired effectiveness. Changing the role in the positive direction stood behind the proactive approach of representatives in the projects, as well as communication with communal policies was increased
