Parciální atomové náboje umožňují zjednodušený popis elektronové hustoty v molekulách. Tradičně se počítají pomocí výpočetně náročných metod, které numericky řeší rovnice z kvantové mechaniky. Tato úroveň výpočetní náročnosti je činí pomalými a omezuje jejich použití na malé molekuly. Partial atomic charges offer a simplified description of electron density in molecules. They are traditionally calculated using computationally intensive methods that numerically solve equations from quantum mechanics.
