Verification of hypothetical effect of velocity anomaly in basement of station JAVC (Velká Javorina) on arrival times of seismic waves

Abstract:

Předložená bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou ověření hypotetického vlivu rychlostní anomálie v podloží stanice JAVC (Velká Javorina) na časy příchodů seismických vln. Hypotéza byla založena na předpokladu, že zpoždění příchodů seismických vln způsobuje několik kilometrů mocné těleso západokarpatského flyše, který tvoří podloží stanice JAVC. Na stanici je dlouhodobě pozorována systematická odchylka detekovaných časů příchodu seismických vln. Bylo zjištěno, jak pro regionální, tak globální jevy, že v rozmezí hloubek reprezentující reálné hloubky ve flyši a při rychlostech seismického paprsku 3,5 až 4 km s-1, dochází ke shodě pozorovaného zpoždění a teoretického zpoždění. Tudíž je reálné, že systematickou odchylku pozorovanou na stanici JAVC, způsobuje průchod signálu tělesem flyše. Ovšem nevylučuje se i jiný fenomén, který může způsobit zpoždění signálu.

Abstract:

The submitted thesis deals with problems of the verification of the hypothetical effect of the velocity anomaly in basement of the station JAVC (Velká Javorina) on arrival times of seismic waves. The hypothesis was based on the assumption that the delay of arrivals of seismic waves is caused by a few kilometers mighty body of Carpathian flysh nappes which from a basement of the station JAVC. The systematic deviation of detected arrival times of seismic waves has long been observed at the station. The observed delay that is based on commonly used model was compared with a theoretical delay. This model is calculated for sloping ray on the basis of speed and depth which represents the real depth flysh body. It was discovered that there is a accordance in the observed and theoretical delay, for both regional and global events, in the range of depths representing the real depth in the flysh and at a speed of seismic ray of 3,5 to 4 km s-1.Therefore it is possible that the observed systematic deviation at the station JAVC is caused by the passage of the signal in the flysh. This does not exclude a different phenomenon which can cause a delay of signal.
