Popis časově závislého chování dřeva při teplotním, vlhkostním a mechanickém zatěžování

Abstract:

Dřevo jako hygroskopický, ortotropní a nehomogenní materiál vykazuje složitou odezvu na spolupůsobící vlhkostní, teplotní a mechanické zatížení. Vlhkostní, tep-lotní a deformačně-napěťová pole ve dřevě jsou obvykle řešena lineárně a odděleně. Tato dizertační práce je zaměřena na výpočetní postupy, některých nelineárních časově závislých problémů. Tyto postupy mohou pomoci s predikcí odezvy v chování dřeva na spolupůsobící faktory. Hlavními tématy této dizertační práce jsou a) aplikace časově závislého modelu vázaného teplotně-vlhkostního pole ve dřevě na úlohu sušení dřeva a analýza vlivu nelinearit, b) vliv tepelných modifikací na vlastnosti dřeva a c) výpočetní metody pro predikci časově závislého mechanického chování dřeva. Nelineární vázaný numerický model popisující teplotně-vlhkostní pole byl implementován do konečněprvkového řešiče a aplikován na úlohu sušení dřeva. Tento model je využitelný i ve stavební fyzice nebo jako základ pro další zkoumání vlivů proměnlivého nerovnoměrně rozloženého vlhkostního pole na mechanické chování dřeva. Výsledky numerické studie poukazují na vysoký význam použití nelineárních a vázaných výpočtů ve srovnání s lineárními výpočty a obecnými normami pro umělé sušení dřeva. Významným důsledkem tepelných modifikací dřeva jsou hmotnostní úbytky, pokles rovnovážné vlhkosti a zpomalení bobtnání dřeva. Byly sledovány změny těchto fyzikálních vlastností v závislosti na délce procesu modifikace a teplotě u čtyř druhů dřeva. Byly stanoveny analytické funcke a jejich parametry, které umožní predikovat hmotnostní úbytek a změnu rovnovážné vlhkosti v závislosti na parametrech procesu modifikace. Dále byly experimentálně zjišťovány změny bobtnání tepelně modifikovaného dřeva, výsledky byly porovnány s referenčními vzorky. Byl prokázán významný vliv tepelné modifikace a parametrů procesu na rozměrovou stabilitu u všech druhů zkoumaných dřev. Viskoelastickou odezvu dlouhodobě mechanicky zatěžovaného dřeva s výskytem plasticity a poškození popisují numerické modely založené na zobecněném Kelvinově řetězci. Tyto modely byly algoritmizovány, implementovány do konečněprvkového řešiče a podrobeny podrobnému benchmarku zaměřenému na úlohy dotvarování a relaxace s výskytem i bez výskytu poškození a s různým nastavením (tlak, ohyb, stěnový test, rovinná napjatost, proměnlivé zatížení v čase apod.). Implementovaný materiálový model byl shledán použitelným pro všechny typy testovacích úloh, při splnění podmínky správně nastavených časových kroků, což je prezentováno ve výsledcích. Dizertační práce přináší numerické metody, které jsou využitelné pro predikci časově závislého vázaného teplotně-vlhkostního a mechanického chování dřeva. Tyto metody jsou aplikovatelné například při navrhování dřevěných konstrukcí, v dřevařském průmyslu nebo jako základ pro další zkoumání faktorů, které ovlivňnují vlastnosti dřeva.

Abstract:

Wood as a hygroscopic, orthotropic, and nonhomogeneous material shows complicated responses to simultaneous moisture, thermal, and mechanical loading. Usually, the moisture, temperature, and stress-strain fields in wood are solved as a linear and separate problems. Presented thesis brings new approaches to the numerical modeling of some nonlinear and time-dependent problems. These methods help to facilitate the prediction of the timber response to the interacting factors. Main areas of interests of the present dissertation thesis are a) application of time-dependent model of the coupled thermal-moisture field in wood to the problem of wood drying, and the analysis of the influence of nonlinearity, b) the influence of the thermal modification on wood properties, and c) computational methods for predicting the time-dependent mechanical behavior of wood. The coupled nonlinear numerical model for evaluating of the thermal and moisture fields is implemented and applied on the wood drying case. It is possible to apply it also on the building physics tasks, or as a basis for further investigation of the variable nonuniform moisture field influence on the mechanical behavior of wood. The results show the high importance of nonlinear and coupled computations, compared to the linear ones and to a common approach given by standards for kiln-drying of wood. The mass loss, equilibrium moisture content decrease, and swelling kinetics changes as important consequences of the thermal modification, which are highly dependent on the length and temperature of modification process, were observed and described for four wood species. The analytical functions and their parameters for predicting the influence of the process length and temperature on the mass loss and equilibrium moisture content of wood were established. The swelling rates of thermally modified wood species were determined, described, and com-pared to the swelling behavior of untreated wood. It was proved that the modification significantly improved dimensional stability of all the tested wood species. The time-dependent viscoelastic and viscoelastic-damage rheological numerical models for predicting of wood response to the long-term mechanical loading are algorithmized, implemented and benchmarked. These models present a new approach to prediction of the wood creep and relaxation, which describes these processes closer to the reality than commonly used standardized approach. Both models are benchmarked on the creep and relaxation tasks with or without the influence of damage under various settings (compression, bending, wall test, plane-stress, stepped loading etc.). The material model can be used for all types of tasks, if the time steps setting is suitably chosen, which is shown by the results of the performed benchmark tests. Presented dissertation thesis brings numerical methods, which are convenient for the prediction of the time-dependent hygrothermal and the time-dependent mechanical wood behavior. These methods are widely applicable in wood structures design, wood industry, and finally as a basis for further understanding of all the factors, which are affecting wood properties.
