Mobile application design using gamification

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou mobilních aplikací se zaměřením na jejich návrh a jeho následnou gamifikaci. V teoretické části je pro potřeby praktické části přiblížen pojem mobilní aplikace a návrhu mobilních aplikací. Tento návrh je zařazen do kontextu procesu tvorby mobilních aplikací. Poté je vymezen pojem gamifikace, její vývoj a základní seznámení s herními mechanismy. V návaznosti na představení gamifikace jsou poté diskutovány její pokročilé aspekty, které autor definoval jako motivy, fáze cesty uživatele a typy uživatelů. Posléze již lze přistoupit k praktické části, která začíná kapitolou vstupní analýzy a návrhem rámce základní funkcionality aplikace. Vstupní analýza představuje řešenou aplikaci a v souvislosti s ní řeší cílovou skupinu a konkurenci. Další kapitola již k základnímu návrhu přiřazuje herní mechanismy a obohacuje jej tak o gamifikaci, která je nejprve provedena formou konceptu, tzn. výběru gamifikačních prvků dle úsudku autora, a poté je tento koncept laděn prostřednictvím zvoleného gamifikačního rámce Octalysis. Nakonec je finální návrh vyhodnocen pomocí SWOT analýzy a následně s přihlédnutím ke klíčovým aspektům, kterými je potřeba se při vývoji aplikace dále zabývat. Výstupem jednotlivých fází návrhu jsou struktury aplikace ve formě sitemap a návrh uživatelského rozhraní formou wireframů.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the problem of mobile applications focusing on mobile app design and its following gamification. In a theoretical part the term of mobile application is introduced as well as mobile app design. The design is placed into the context of the creating mobile apps process. Then, the term gamification is defined, its history and basic introduction of game techniques. The discussion of advanced gamification aspect follows which are determined as gamification core drives, phases of user journey and user types. The practical part begins with the chapter of an initial analysis and the basic functionality app draft. The initial analysis consists of the considered application introduction and regarding it the target group and competition. Next chapter assigns game techniques to the basic draft enriching it about gamification which is first done by the form of concept, that is the selection of game techniques according to the author’s opinion. Then, the concept is tuned through the chosen gamification framework – Octalysis. In conclusion, the final draft is evaluated by SWOT analysis followed by the key aspects which should be the target of attention in the future phases of mobile app creation. The output of each design phase is the app structure in the form of sitemap and the UI design in the form of wireframes.
