Typical and Specific Collocations in Selected Works of Czech Poetry

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá kolokacemi v české poezii. Její materiálové východisko tvoří básně májovců (Adolf Heyduk, Jan Neruda), ruchovců (Svatopluk Čech, Eliška Krásnohorská) a lumírovců (Jaroslav Vrchlický, Julius Zeyer). Korpus tvoří celkem 982 básní. Metodologicky je zkoumání založeno na asociační míře dice. Analýza se zaměřuje na lemmata láska, srdce, duše, muž a žena. Cílem je poskytnout ucelený obraz zmíněných lemmat v kontextu a porovnat obvyklé charakteristiky tří básnických generací s výslednými kolokacemi. Výzkum je postaven na čtyřech hypotézách (májovci: kolokace sociálního charakteru; ruchovci: kolokace vázající se na české prostředí; ruchovci: kolokace spjaty s lidovou písní; lumírovci: kolokace s důrazem na individuální vnitřní prožitky). Výsledky výzkumu ukazují, že některé charakteristiky, kterými jsou generace popisovány, se do výsledných kolokací nepromítnou.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis is focused on collocations in Czech poetry. The poems which were used belong to three generations: The Máj generation (Adolf Heyduk, Jan Neruda), the Ruch generation (Svatopluk Čech, Eliška Krásnohorská), and the Lumír generation (Jaroslav Vrchlický, Julius Zeyer). The corpus consists of 982 poems in total. The research is based on association measure dice. The analysis concentrates on the lemmata love, heart, soul, man, and woman. The aim is to provide a complete view of the aforementioned lemmata in the context, and compare usual characteristics of the aforementioned generations with resulting collocations. The research is based on four hypotheses (the Máj generation: social collocations; the Ruch generation: collocations connected with the Czech environment; the Ruch generation: collocations bound with Czech folk songs; the Lumír generation: collocations emphasizing inner feelings). The results show that some characteristics which describe the generations do not project themselves into the resulting collocations.
