Stoicism and Christianity (conception of man and ethics - attempt at comparison)

Abstract:

Tato práce se zaměřuje na filozofii stoicismu s důrazem na její etický aspekt a srovnává ji s filozofickým systémem křesťansky smýšlejících představitelů Dietricha Bonhoeffera a Emmanuela Lévinase. Práce je rozdělena do pěti částí. V první části se zaměřuje na teoretické pojednání o filozofii stoicismu, popisuje její hlavní znaky a předkládá ústřední myšlenky nejvýznamnějších představitelů týkající se poznání dobra a zla, spravedlnosti, svobody či smrti. Ve druhé a třetí části tato práce rozebírá nejvýznamnější filozofické myšlenky Dietricha Bonhoeffera a Emmanuela Lévinase, v obou případech s důrazem na etiku, které poskytuje největší prostor. Jejich názory, doplněné o problematiku odpovědnosti, tato práce strukturuje tak, aby je bylo možné porovnat s etikou stoy. Cíl práce byl naplněn ve čtvrté a páté kapitole práce. Záměrem bylo porovnat a zjistit, do jaké míry se myšlenky stoiků podobají názorům křesťansky orientovaných filozofů Dietricha Bonhoeffera a Emmanuela Lévinase a pokusit se aplikovat vybraná témata do výuky v současnosti. Jako podklady pro zpracování této práce byly použity především díla jmenovaných myslitelů, včetně představitelů stoy, společně s materiály dalších autorů zabývajících se tematikou stoicismu či etikou Emmanuela Lévinase a Dietricha Bonhoeffera.

Abstract:

This master's thesis focuses on the philosophy of Stoicism, with emphasis on the ethical aspect and compares it to the philosophical system of Christian-minded representatives of Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Emmanuel Levinas. The thesis is divided into five parts. The first part focuses on theoretical treatise on the philosophy of Stoicism, describes its main characteristics and presents the central ideas of the most important representatives of the knowledge of good and evil, justice, liberty or death. In the second and third part of this thesis discusses the most important philosophical ideas Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Emmanuel Levinas, in both cases with an emphasis on ethics, which provides the most space. Their views, complemented by the issue of liability, this work is structured so that it can be compared with the ethics Stoa. This objective has been fulfilled in the fourth and fifth chapter of the thesis. The aim was to compare and determine to what extent the ideas of the Stoics resemble those of Christian-oriented philosopher Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Emmanuel Levinas and try to apply selected topics in education today. As a basis for this thesis were used mainly works nominated thinkers, including representatives Stoa, together with materials other authors dealing with the theme of stoicism or ethics Emmanuel Levinas and Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
