European Union in the context of emergency measures against COVID 19: the assessment of member states' concepts

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je vyhodnocení přístupů vlád v Evropské unii a Spojeném království k překonání krize COVID-19. Práce je rozdělena na pět částí z čehož praktická část se zaměřuje na regionální analýzu evropského prostoru s ohledem na povahu přijatých opatření a jejich klasifikaci podle stupně liberálnosti či konzervativnosti. První část práce popisuje Evropskou unii jako takovou, její vývoj, hlavní dogma, podstatu existence a vysvětlení pojmů liberalismu a konzervatismu. Druhá část stručně popisuje jednotlivé členské země, jejich politický systém a základní ekonomické charakteristiky. Ve třetí části jsou konkretizována zkoumaná opatření, která byla zaváděna napříč evropským prostorem a je popsán postup jejich klasifikace. Čtvrtá část je věnována analýze legislativních opatření v souvislosti s COVID-19 v zemích EU a Spojeného království. Poslední, pátá část je určena ke komparaci a syntéze získaných údajů, jejich grafické znázornění na kartogramu Evropy a celkové vyhodnocení.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the approaches of governments in the European Union and the United Kingdom to overcome the COVID-19 crisis. The work is divided into five parts, of which the practical part focuses on the regional analysis of the European area with regard to the nature of the measures taken and their classification according to the degree of liberalism or conservatism. The first part of the thesis describes the European Union as such, its development, the main dogma, the essence of existence and an explanation of the concepts of liberalism and conservatism. The second part briefly describes the individual member states, their political system and basic economic characteristics. In the third part, the examined measures, which were implemented across the European area, are specified and the procedure of their classification is described. The fourth part is devoted to the analysis of legislative measures related to COVID-19 in the EU countries and the United Kingdom. The last fifth part is intended for comparison and synthesis of the obtained data, their graphical representation on the cartogram of Europe and overall evaluation.
